The film is set in the black truffle kingdom of the world: The Provence. The 'black diamond' is the magical centre of a unique world populated by various people. Their profound passion for this illusive mushroom is what unites them. The film shows how the truffle enchants the senses, incites dreams and becomes a jewel in Haute cuisine.
Mad About Truffles focuses on people who hunt truffles by searching for flies that reveal where the truffles are hidden. This is a unique tradition which is passed on from generation to generation. However, due to the changing climate, the truffle is at risk of dying out.
